About the museum
The SMO museum in Špetr shows the cultural landscape from the Julian Alps to the sea, from Mangart to the Gulf of Trieste, and ranks among the new forms of thematic and regional museums that no longer rely on collecting objects, but on narratives.
It is designed as an active, dynamic, friendly and encouraging space, where the narrative of these places is developed through the characteristic aspects of the local culture.
In this space, artistic experimentation and the dimension of memory intertwine, it offers the visitor interactive journeys and multimedia murals of the landscape, which is a collection of people and places, stories and memories, and which evokes stimuli and reflections.
Through the narrative, we recognize the landscape, we can listen to it and find out how language is a connector of many cultural variants, microcosms that are brimming with stories.
